BLOG #6

Blog #6
Maria, mother of three, has worked in the field Practically her whole entire life and her life working in the field was never the best; now her children work in the field too but, “there is little resemblance between their lives…. They work at their own pace and they keep what they earn.” Maria really had it tougher compared to her children but she isn’t the same to her kids(harder) to what her dad was to her. Maria didn’t have a perfect childhood but she is doing everything in her power to give her children what she lost. Childhood is a very strong point in your life time, for Maria her childhood went down the road and didn’t turn out to have a normal life; She didn’t even get to go back home to tell her family about her big promotion. She instead got abused by a close family friend and dropped out of high school by the tenth grade and was forced to marry the man who abused her because he got her pregnant. Her life might have not been the easiest but she is not going to ruin her children’s life just like her dad and that monster ruined hers.
In Maria’s life she challenges herself to difficult tasks, despite her fears; She faces these tasks because she sees it as if she is making it easier for her children instead of having it hard for them. When moved to College Station, it was the worst thing for me, all my friends are in Houston, my family is in Houston, even my job. I’ve been having a hard time, but I’m trying to make it easier for myself and I started by getting a new job at Dixie’s chicken in Northgate. This has actually made my life easier because the first month of me being here I would drive every weekend back to Houston to work there, I realized it was such a waste of money (gas). Getting this new job frightened me because I don’t know anybody but I’m starting to make some friends and my family comes to visit me once a month. I faced these hard tasks to make my life easier and make it more helpful in a way.
