BLOG #9 uhhh jeeeez.......

Bianka Sauceda                                                                                                                                      Still
Blog #9 Rough Draft
                                                           Undocumented Students.
The topic that I chose is a topic that I personally can relate to on so many levels, I picked this topic because I want people to understand the difficult life undocumented students be having.
In the article Undocumented and Stressed By Kaitlin mulhere, over the years, surveys have found that undocumented students go through high level of stress, anxiety, and depression. In 2012 President Obama started the program Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Being an undocumented student myself, life has been pretty hard and DACA gave me a chance to “fit” in. Being under the DACA program and being a student, it makes you “ask a lot of questions……and they have to figure out who they can trust” saying this means that they really can’t trust everybody with their identity and have a lot of questions on what to do to focus on their future.
Being an Undocumented student myself has been actually hard because when DACA was starting my family didn’t have money to afford it and I got scared because the what ifs came in my head and I didn’t know what to do; is actually pretty weird sharing my status, you can never see anything coming from someone until they tell you. “90 percent of DACA recipients worried about the deportation or detention of friends and family”, on a serious note this is actually true because I fear that one day me and my brother and mom will get deported and leave my two younger brothers here. When I started college I had my whole life planned and then I found out that to be a firefighter you have to be a U.S. Citizen and my dreams went downhill, my older brother is also undocumented he is actually doing Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M and It freaks me out because he’s going to be a senior next year and what if something bad happens and his plans are ruined just like mine. I’m actually not going to give up but I need space and raise money to afford the rest of my semesters since my financial aid isn’t going very well.
“Colleges could also create support groups or centers specifically for undocumented students, so they have a place to go to share concerns and seek resources”, this would actually be so happy instead of always having so many questions and searching online. One of the majors stressors for undocumented students is “what will happen when DACA ends” and “It is not just stressful but also depressing for any human not being able or motivated to think, dream and plan a future,” most undocumented students don’t know what to do with their future will be or what to do since they are afraid on what will happen.
This information should actually motivate undocumented people and help them find their future and see their purpose in this country and be proud of it; and to inform people on what undocumented people are going through and try to see them selves on other peoples shoes.

Why do people believe in conspiracy theories? I personally believe in conspiracy theories; not because it changes the way the event actually happened, but because it puts people in the set of mind of the “what if”.
On June 6, 2018, David Ludden posted an article called, “Why Do People Believe In Conspiracy Theories?”, this article talks about how people like conspiracy theories and why. I chose this article to find out why we believe in conspiracy theories because I personally believe in them. In the article it talked about “the desire for understanding and certainty”, I found this part interesting because what it says is true.
Ludden asks a question and makes us wonder “why is that?”; he really goes into detail on why people might believe in the C.T. , the researchers have found that reasons for believing is because od desire; “the desire of understanding and certainty” “the desire for control and security” “the desire to maintain a positive self-image”.
By looking at this article we can determine that this is an informative article. The article is letting us know why people believe in conspiracy theories and why they have a reason to believe in them and plus Ludden is not telling us directly to believe in them.

Problems with the airplanes.

Epi Syamsul and his wife, Yenny, awaited news of their son Mohammad Rafi Andrian on Wednesday       https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/31/world/asia/lion-air-flight-610-black-boxes-indonesia.html
Hanna beech, from The New York Times, wrote an article about the incident that happened in Indonesia. “One of the deadliest commercial air disasters in years” as the officials recalled, “The plane has experienced an unspecified technical issue the night before”, as they knew that the plane had problems they didn’t do anything to actually fix it. When the plane went down in the waters of Java Sea, strong currents hampered the search; so it made it very difficult to actually look for the plane.
The brand-new airplane had 189 people on board and right after takeoff, the crew had requested permission to return to the airport but it crashed. On a previous takeoff “the plane had experienced problems with unreliable airspeed reading”, meaning that it had to do something with the air tubes. According to the article, the air tubes can go wrong if something is blocking the tubes, in hot-equatorial climates, the wasps go inside the tubes and make mud nests. Having a nest in the tube, it blocks the air from passing through. Before the airplane leaves there has to be a procedure that they have to follow to make sure everything goes right. Pilots says, “basic skills like flying a plane without the aid of technology has become a less common art”, making it hard to actually function. This really hasn’t been the first time an accident like this has happened.        The fact that the plane crashed and they haven’t recovered anything is really surprising because we have this modern technology and is really that smart on it, but it is understandable that the currents made the search very difficult. Right after it took off it killed all 189 on in pact. I personally have never been on an airplane but I have heard a lot of stories that have happened. A story, attack, that has happened and it was very devastating was the 9/11 attack on the twin towers; This was a terrorist attack and it was a very tragic thing that happened. Another horrible plane accident was in 2012 when Jenni Rivera was killed in a plane crashed, Jenni was one of my mom’s favorite singers and it devastated her, imagine how all the family members of all the 189 people on the plane must be feeling right now.        When they find the plane I hope they can close the case and all the people may rest in peace and next time they should actually see what they are doing wrong before the leave the airport.

Maria, mother of three, has worked in the field Practically her whole entire life and her life working in the field was never the best; now her children work in the field too but, “there is little resemblance between their lives…. They work at their own pace and they keep what they earn.” Maria really had it tougher compared to her children but she isn’t the same to her kids(harder) to what her dad was to her. Maria didn’t have a perfect childhood but she is doing everything in her power to give her children what she lost. Childhood is a very strong point in your life time, for Maria her childhood went down the road and didn’t turn out to have a normal life; She didn’t even get to go back home to tell her family about her big promotion. She instead got abused by a close family friend and dropped out of high school by the tenth grade and was forced to marry the man who abused her because he got her pregnant. Her life might have not been the easiest but she is not going to ruin her children’s life just like her dad and that monster ruined hers.
In Maria’s life she challenges herself to difficult tasks, despite her fears; She faces these tasks because she sees it as if she is making it easier for her children instead of having it hard for them. When moved to College Station, it was the worst thing for me, all my friends are in Houston, my family is in Houston, even my job. I’ve been having a hard time, but I’m trying to make it easier for myself and I started by getting a new job at Dixie’s chicken in Northgate. This has actually made my life easier because the first month of me being here I would drive every weekend back to Houston to work there, I realized it was such a waste of money (gas). Getting this new job frightened me because I don’t know anybody but I’m starting to make some friends and my family comes to visit me once a month. I faced these hard tasks to make my life easier and make it more helpful in a way.

Blog #5... Are our lives getting ruined?

In the video “You will wish you watched this before you started using social media | The Twisted Truth”, Is showing us how Social Media is changing us or actually how IT changed us. Social media is addictive and we can’t control or limit the use of it. In Inside “IQ” quest with Tom Bilyeu the special guest, Jim Kwik, explains how there is such thing as “Social Media Depression” and he tells us how bad is impacting our health and social life. He says “everyone’s looking at their feed and they’re comparing their lives to highlights of other people’s lives and there’s less satisfaction, more sadness, depression and stuff like that, because everyone is comparing themselves to what other people are posting”; Tom Bilyeu focuses on the addiction to social media and the cause of it, and is ruining our lives. In reality, every one compares themselves, social media or not, people still do it; but the fact that we end up going deeper into other people’s lives and actually seeing what they are up to and what they eat, do, wear, etc; is beyond extreme. There have been studies that show “The more you use social media the more likely to feel lonely” this actually shows how people feel lonely because they are comparing themselves to other people or how they are looking at things that they don’t have for example a partner, big house, car of the year, latest new phone, the body they want, stuff like this makes them not feel good about themselves because they might not be able to get that.
Chamath Palinapitiya, the Ex-facebook executive, sees the world differently now that he is not working for Facebook no more and likes to tell us the effects that we are receiving. He claims that “social media is tearing society apart” on the video he claims that, “we have created tools that are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works……you don’t realize it but you are being programed”. The way that he brings this up Just by telling us how bad this is going over time and how we are being controlled it is very unreal; Palinapitiya decided to tell the Twisted Truth behind something that is being used 24/7 by people and “This is a global problem”. The way that people in the video describe social media is totally the opposite of positive and they say it that way because they are trying to tell us the truth behind it. The point of social media is that the tools behind it are designed to be addicted. When we get a notification on our phone like let’s say perhaps Instagram, you posted a picture and you are putting the last filter and comment the make the picture and the caption Way better than the before pictures on your timeline; you keep refreshing Instagram to see if you get any likes before 5-10 minutes, you are just that addicted that you keep track on who will like it first/fast and who will comment something bad/good. You just can’t keep your mind off, of something that people will judge of.

Social media is part of our lives and you choose how to control it because is what you do on the internet and what information you share. In my personal opinion I feel like social media has taken over our lives because you literally see 12-13 year old’s posting on social media that they are having “Netflix and chill @.....”, around that age I was outside playing tag or hide and seek; Even going to the public library during summer to read up to ten books and see what the librarian would give me as a gift. I bet kids these days don’t know how it was back then but is scarier for the younger generation that is getting technology in their hands and with a click of a button opening Social Media. Time has changed and social media might change it even more, you walk, drive, go to any public place, you will see how attached people are to their phone. The twisted truth behind social media is scary, we are being controlled in a way but social media is like a Drug as well and we are addicted to it.

Bianka Sauceda
A Little About My Self.

Where can I begin? My friends call me Ebelin but my real name is bianka, Where can I start? I am the only girl out of my siblings; which means I have always wanted a sister but I’m okay with my three brothers. As the second child it has as much responsibility as the first child which means there’s things to do left and right. I can say that having three brothers might seem difficult to some people, but you’ll get the hang of it. I’ve never really had a real memory of where I was born, Salamanca Guanajuato, but my parents say that is a very beautiful and peaceful place but that was back then, time has changed because now is not that peaceful anymore, there’s a lot of dangerous crimes going on. Being raised in Houston, TX helped with my English and helped my family settle in.

During my school years I considered myself a tomboy believe it or not, I personally do not hang out with girls a lot because they are too girly even though I’m a girl I’m just not into all the girly and women up stuff; I would prefer wearing whatever clothes I want, I only dress up like an actual girl(dress, makeup, etc) if it wasn’t for my mom and my cousins I would always be on my boy/basketball shorts and my hoodie and let’s not forget about my long socks. I love doing a lot of things and love being competitive. One of my hobbies is playing the piano for fun, I play it when I have nothing to do or when I have time on my hands. People would never see me playing in the orchestra but I surprisingly played for five years and I wasn’t in the intermediate orchestra I was in advance orchestra, played the viola, you can say I’m a total dork now even though I was never smart in school. I love the music and that is a big part of who I am, I listen to music 24/7 I honestly can’t live a day without it. Being good at something it takes passion and love, to be that good at it; one of those other things is me playing Tennis, yes, I play tennis. Played Tennis for 3 years and was in the varsity team, top five varsity girls number two to be exact, as you can see I like to brag a lot. Another thing that people would never see coming from me is that I LOVE playing video games, one of my favorite games of all time since forever is Call Of Duty, Black ops 2.

My goal after Blinn is to become a firefighter and save lives, I’ve been wanting to become a firefighter ever since I started working at H-E-B. Every weekend fire stations will come to my job and sometimes all of the sudden they will get a call and that inspired me that no matter what is going on and what is happening you can stop and go help. Well, that in myself and my life, I don’t really like introducing myself but I just did!.

A Little About My Self.

Where can I start? My name is Bianka but I go by Ebelin, I am the only girl out of my siblings; which means I have always wanted a sister but in reality that never happened. I am the second child, I and my older brother were brought to the US when we were at such a young age, born in Mexico, Salamanca Guanajuato, but raised in the US. My parents brought us here to have a better life than what they did, years after, my mom delivered my two younger brothers. I’ve never really had a real memory of where I was born but my parents say that is a very beautiful and peaceful place but that was back then, time has actually changed because now is not that peaceful anymore, there’s a lot of dangerous crimes going on; But where I was Raised I know a lot!. Is such a basic place where I was raised and that would be Houston, TX, I mean don’t get me wrong I love it and all but the only thing I hate is how bipolar the weather can be or how bad the 290 freeway can get. I was raised in the Spring Branch area where most people know most people. My mom would tell me that when I was little I would always brag on how I will be a doctor when I grow up because I hate seeing her when she was at her worsts.
